From the land of freaky cross sales techniques.... Yesterday evening I was in BestBuy getting a dryer. As I am heading for the checkout talking to the manager, a regional manager and a department manager from another department (the appliances clerk had been button holed at the front desk somehow so they were all helping me) the store manager asks me if I have a computer at home. I said yes. Then he asked if I had an ISP.. I said not quite yet.. soon I would get around to that. So he tells me "I can give you $200 off that dryer right now if you sign up with MSN." I understand when they do that with computers.. but a dryer? Does it have an Ethernet port I am not aware of? If it did that would rock for home automation...but still?!?!?? MSN Broadband for a discount on the dryer. I declined, politely even.
notes from the frontier of boredom
the semi-lucid ramblings of a person on the frontier of boredom without anything to do, and without any meaningful direcion. I love my job. Since I started working here I figured I'd spend the next 30 years doing the same thing. My free time is eaten up. I still don't really have much of a life, but I'm busy and it looks like fun.
